Change your world by changing your perspective. Mallow Drops is a tricky mix of platformer and a sliding block puzzle. Help Marsh and Mallow rescue their eggs and get to the exit! Turn everything upside down as you slide, shift and move through the tricky world of Mallow Drops, a mix of platformer and a sliding block puzzle. Getting to where you need to go is no problem - just be sure to have a safe landing! But with Wooly Jumpers hopping about and Dirty Underbears surprising you suddenly, it won't be easy. And if you're not careful, the dreaded Dropbears will get the drop on you!
Mallow Drops started its life as a 2011 Ludum Dare October Challenge project called 'Mallow Drop'. It took around 18 months to complete, and drew its inspiration from the sliding-across-ice puzzles found in many classic games, and ‘traffic jam’ style sliding block puzzles. Mallow Drop started as the physics sandbox for Gritfish’s game engine, ‘Boxy2D’. As more objects and physics ideas were toyed with, the sandbox became more game-like, and was eventually given sprite-based graphics and adapted into a larger mobile puzzle game based around altering the gravity of the game by rotating the phone. During PAX in 2014, Gritfish spoke with Green Stripe Snake about bringing an expanded version of the game to Steam for PC, Mac and Linux, with additional features and gameplay.
